James R. Metcalf, DMD
Dr. Metcalf has practiced in the area for over 25 years and his goal as a dentist is to help patients achieve a healthy, functional bite and smile that lasts a lifetime. In order to give his patients the smiles they have always wanted, he successfully completes continuing education courses regularly and is a member of the ADA as well as the AAO. He has also been the past president of the Greats Lowell Dental Society and is one of three orthodontists worldwide to partner with 3M Unitek in the development and treating of their digital scanners. In addition to his wide range of knowledge and experiences, he has also received and accomplished many awards and achievements, such as:
- He earned the Orthodontic Award at graduation from dental school.
- He was elected for the National Dental Honor Society.
- He received a letter of recommendation from Dean Edward J. Forrest for patient care.
- He was elected as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.
He has also received additional training in:

- Unitek 3M Scanner
- Propel Technique
Prior to his dental career, Dr. Metcalf received his bachelor’s degree in biology at the State University of New York. He later attended dental school at the University of Pittsburg and graduated in 1980. Dr. Metcalf has been married for 40 years and has two children. In his free time, he enjoys fishing.
